5a05 is an aluminum alloy from the Al Mg series that is resistant to rust. Unlike other alloys, it cannot be strengthened through heat treatment. It has a higher magnesium content and lower strength, similar to the 5A03 alloy. The strength of the alloy can be increased by cold deformation, but this also reduces its plasticity. In its annealed state, the alloy has relatively high plasticity, while in the semi cold worked hardened state, the plasticity is still acceptable. It has good resistance to corrosion and can be easily welded using spot welding, atomic hydrogen welding, gas welding, and argon arc welding. However, its machinability and annealing state are not very good, while the semi cold work hardening state is still acceptable.
